Thanks for the replies and info! I may have to convert to using the
forum if I can figure out how to log in, it won't take my login/pass
from the list, so I must be doing something wrong. Working on the GMC
seems easier to me than posting to the list or the forum!
I'm going to call Jim and Manny Sunday or Monday and get more info
and prices on the front end conversion kits, I am an ASE master tech and
I knew that the front end components looked weak compared to the forces
they have to endure. I already put 1.5 inch spacers on the wheels to
increase the track and noticed a big difference in the driveability.
Wasn't going with the 2 inchers because like I said I was not impressed
with the heft of the front end components.
The axle broke about 1/2 inch from the end bell and looking at the
fresh break on the side of the road I saw that it was discolored (rust
darkened) over MOST of the break, indicating that it had actually been
broken for some time. Only 2 spots about 1/4 inch in size were fresh
breakage. Until I saw that I thought the spacers had induced too much
stress on the bearing and transferred it to the axle right quick since I
have only driven about 7 miles since I put the spacers on a few days
ago. Now I see that was not the case and am not concerned about using
the spacers since both of those kits come with the 2 inch spacers.
Also have to make a macro for the signature line if I can figure
that out...I can make cars & computers from spare parts found on the
workshop floor, but software is just not my bag.

I use Outlook as my email program; I do so because that's what I used during my working career and I'm used to how it works; as they say its hard teaching old dogs new tricks! 
Outlook sorts the emails by Subject and shows who it's From. These two parameters allow me to screen which messages I want to scan in the Preview Pane by Highlighting them. If the first few lines are interesting I click on the message, it opens and I read it.
If it's something I want to keep I put it in a folder on my PC.

I don't like keeping email on my computer. I have lost a lot of hard drives and such, and, since for me my computer is a toy, I don't put a lot of effort into backing stuff up. I use the forum, because I can search it back to 2007, and I have only been a member here since 2011.
I used Outlook at work for years. It is a work tool, not a toy. GMC stuff is supposed to be fun.
With the Forum, it shows me all the threads that are new, or have had replies posted since last time I looked. I can look at the ones I have been tracking, or the ones that look interesting. When done, I can mark all posts as "read" and next time I come back to the forum, the new threads and threads with new posts since I last visited are highlighted. No emails cluttering up my email program that need to be deleted. I don't have to do any PC housekeeping at all. It is done for me.
I can post stuff with photos imbedded, and I can see the pictures in the posts with photos imbedded. You can't do that with email. With email, you have to open the photo URLs, or the sites that contain the pictures, seperately in a browser.
I can send and receive Private Messages.
If everyone would use the forum, there wouldn't be so much risk of email addresses getting posted for scammers and spammers to harvest.
We are not going to convince each other to change, but the newbies that come here need to know the advantages and disadvantages of both so they can decide which is best for them. Some folks would probably do both.
I will start using those silly social sharing sites that are all the rage to the young whippersnappers when all the email list people here start using the forum.
