If you have ever wanted one of these, now is the time to get into one cheap. This is my 3rd GMC. I bought it a couple years ago with the hope of doing another restoration. I collected many parts towards this goal but by the time I got most of the interior disassembled my health problems got worse and I no longer have the energy to complete it and it has just been sitting. It has 100,800 miles on it and still runs like a
dream and doesn’t drip oil all over the place. It passes smog with no problems. It is drivable and can be driven to your location with no problems but does need some reassembly.

I have well over $6000.00 into it with all the stuff I bought to restore it and will sell it for $2500.00. I could probably get more by parting it out, but that would make me sicker because it is just too good to scrap. Call Bob 619-460-2145.

Bob, I am sad to hear this. Every time I open my electric door I think about you. Nice little invention I have from you. Great for us dry campers. I have missed the emails we used to share. Hollar when you feel like it my friend.

That is so sad to hear Bob. That makes two times for you, health wise and
GMC wise. I'm glad you got to chase your dream, sorry it got away from you.
It will go fast as you are a remarkable and innovative craftsman.

I'll echo that. You are the priority now, and though sad for the GMC, you can better work on getting healthy without the stress of your coach. Agree that it will go fast.

Wishing you the very best!

Bob
Hate to hear of your health issues. And we will keep you in our thoughts.

Thank you for wanting to see your coach find the right home. Sounds like a great deal for the right person.

Hello Tim,

I don't have your email address so am responding to you via this email. It will not let me post pictures. If you would like to see them send me your email address and I will forward them to you. Mine is rssbob@cox.net

This is what I sent to the other members who responded to my ad.

First I want to thank you all for responding to my post on the swap meet. I don’t follow the gmc net any more and forgot to check for posts on the swap meet until just tonight. Couldn’t sleep tonight so might as well do something constructive.

I find that the biggest loss of getting out of this hobby is not having the continual interaction with some of the nicest people on the planet. Many of which I have never met personally but still had the feeling I have know them for years.

Over the last year I have been on two different rounds of chemo. Both worked for a while but eventually quit. They left me with a big energy void. Had to sit down to catch my breath after walking across the room. After a month off, I started another drug which is going well. Might I come back for GMC number 4 if we get this to work? who knows.

Anyway, earlier this year I filled out my paperwork for my AAA insurance to document how many miles we had driven each vehicle over the last year. They ask this to put us in the correct “miles driven” category to establish premium rates. I realized I had not driven the coach ONE mile over that time frame. I am a bit stubborn at times, (my wife calls me a bull dog) but was finally able to admit to myself that the odds of me completing my GMC resto were very very slim. So a couple weeks ago I decided to move out to sell it so someone else can take it the to the next step. I finished up the power brake system so I could take it off the jack stands and drive it, got a one day permit to take it to the smog station, got it smogged, renewed the registration and put on the license plates.

Put it on crags list and the GMC swap meet on thursday night and got plenty of response. A guy arrived to look at 10:00 sunday morning. A newbie to the GMC rig, but had done some research (& has been lurking on the GMC net). So he decided he wanted to try using one to travel in, as he goes all over the states on his job. His travel costs and, lodging, etc had been killing his bottom line. With a rig this size he thought he could use it as his roving office, sleep in it to save on the motel bills. He was here until 5:50 that evening trying to convince himself that he could make this rig work for him. He knew it was a fixer and we discussed every one of his concerns. He finally felt comfortable enough and decided to go for it. We closed the deal that evening and he came back the next two days while we did the work and got him packed up to shove off. He left tuesday afternoon at 3:15.

That is the most physical work I have done in the last year. I am not complaining. Even though I was totally exhausted, it felt good and I found myself feeling comfortable as he drove away. (After I had backed it down my driveway).

Have fun with the pictures and I would welcome the opportunity to get together for lunch or whatever should anyone of you find yourselves in so cal.

Bob

This was the biggest hurdle because there was no headlight or turn signal and that was too much of a safety issue. He asked me how we might attack this.

My idea was to use some metal plumbing strapping tape (with all the little holes in it), This is what we wound up with. Seems to pretty solid and should hold
attach with short drywall screws then duct tape the heck out of it. for quite a while. Thank God for duct tape.

This is the permanent fix I had planned but we were not equipped to attempt this So instead we did this. Tied the permanent fix to the roof so he can take
total remove and replace process. it home with him to finish it. That is the happy new owner. Chris Lemont.

During these last two days we installed the rear bumpers, removed the roof ac and installed the replacement (and got it running), repaired the forced air furnace (which was
plugged up with mud dauber wasp nests).
