Do I remember that someone had done a how-to to replace the glass on the speedo and guages units??
I have mine apart to get the donut recovered at JimB's so I wanted to take care of this too.
Thankx

I redid mtwo large ones with plexiglas, wasn't hard at all.
I don't have it documented, but just remove the gauges, the covers on the two large gauges are held on with bent tabs, bend them and remove the cover. Get glass or ??? cut and replace, reinstall the cover and rebend the tabs.

took the glass out took it to a glass shop around the corner, they cut both
of them for 5 bucks , gauges look brand new, not sure if condensation will
ever be a problem process was easy just look at it as already being broken
and no problem!! Dan

I re-did mine several years ago, except I used Windex. I took them apart and cleaned both sides. Then I reassembled them again using the original glass.

Picture frame glass, with a non-glare finish, should available. At least
it was when I did an Alfa Romeo instrument with it MANY years ago (1958,
IIRC).

Ken,
That synaps fired just before I cam back here.
I used picture frame glass in a: 1948 Jeepster (1965), 1959 MB-190Db (1968), 1964 MGC (1970)and 1966 Jeep Gladiator (1983). The Gladiator was a real bear because the backside of the glass had a screen printed mask with too much detail to just cut paper. Fortunately, I had a friend with a screen print shop that I could borrow during off time.
All were separated by enough time for me to forget exactly what I had done right the last time and each time I had moved so I couldn't go back to the people that set me up right on the previous effort.

If you are just trying to make the gauge lenses look new again try using 3M plastic polish. For best results get both the plastic cleaner as well as plastic polish. Two steps, about 10 min of cleaning and buffing (after the lens is out of the dash) and they will look like new.
Oh and 3M plastic cleaner and plastic polish is available at most automotive paint supply stores.
