Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for measurements of the two drive axles.
1) I need from flat surface of inside CV to tip of outer
or
2) Axle it self between the CV boots
And does the passenger side of the GMC axle have a damper (like stock OLDS axle did) on the axle shaft?
Thank you, Tony
Tony (Ontario Canada) Marie and I are blessed to have had a 2nd chance to buy our farm. Still hoping and more importantly praying to be able to build a garage. Our 1970 Ultravan #520 has an Olds Toronado 455 in back.

Tony,
I don't have the axle length.
Only the Eldorado's axles had the passenger side damper on the shaft.

Tony,
What picture? No link in your email. I use the mailing list, so don't see
any photos posted on the forum.

Between the shock absorber and the lower A-arm, there's a cylinder (damper)
on the R. axle. That is, to the best of my knowledge, an Eldorado axle.
In the past, a couple of times when I ordered rebuilt axles, those have
arrived. I just removed one from the '70 Eldorado front clip I bought last
Sunday.

Ken,
I just checked the maintenance manual http://www.bdub.net/manuals/1967_Toronado_3.21_Planetary_Final_Drive.pdf
FINAL DRIVE TORONADO
94 AND 96 SERIES
SECTION 3EC
Page 3EC-2 Final Drive
Fig. 3EC-1 Power Train Components
Shows the damper as well.

How 'bout that! When the first one arrived in response to my axle order,
we looked it up on the store's computer and it referenced that part
only forthe Eldorado.
Having learned something new for today, I might as well go back to bed. :-)

Check with Manny for the original size . He might have a pile of those axles from his one ton installs. He has new ones machined for the 1 ton package because they are longer and They may have a metric measurement splines on the outer end for the one ton spindle he uses.
maybe he is willing to tell you who does the machining for him as well. Then you can have them made for your own needs

Thank you John and C Boyd.
The link was very helpful and the contact info might come in handy - if I do have to get some axles made.
