Hey All;
Finally got the governor out of the transmission. I replaced the
bottom gear (thanks for all of the tips on drilling) and it was bad.
Two teeth were worn down. I now need a replacement square-cut O-ring
for the governor. Any idea where I can quickly get one of these? Would
it be the same seal that is on the Turbo-400? Thanks.

If you get a valid part number, please post it. I searched for a longtime for one, never did find it. Even went to a old time transmission shop to see if one was hanging around in old rebuild kits. Guy said probably, but did not even know where to begin to look in his shop. Did I say that he had been there a very long time?
I was told that it could be replaced by a large diameter O-ring, since there is no pressure at that spot. I was given an old one by another GMC owner, so i quit chasing it.

Gary,
I would suggest you take the governor and the old seal to a hardware store that has a selection of O-rings and I'll bet dollars to
donuts that you'll find one that works.

Hey Wally;
Really, thanks for the offer. I do have the old seal and it is
intact, but it's covered with RTV and I just didn't want to clean it
up. If I can't find another seal I will just do the dirty deed and try
to clean the old one up without breaking it. Thanks again for the
offer. I sure appreciate it.l
