Emery,
I believe your emerystora at mac dot com email has been hacked. I just received an email claiming you are in Athens and need money. this is a typical email scam.

I see you just posted a message here in the past hour so its definitely a scammer.

Posting here so others know and you can get in and change your password asap.

We had a spam post from an old, inactive account yesterday. It may have been the culprit.

Unfortunately that Spam came in via email and not the forum. So Eugene deleting it will not help.

The link is still live on the forum, Ken. So if it is the culprit, others wold be at risk.

If you look at the original (first) posting you can tell how it entered into the system. If there is an unsubscribe message attached to the posting then it came through the email system. If there is no unsubscribe message then it entered through the forum. Deleting the account on the forum will not solve the problem because then next time a SPAM email is posted to the email server, the forum will receive it from the "trusted" email server and the whole process starts all over again. The solution is to delete the account on the email server.

My assumption is that accounts are mirrored in email and forums and both would be deleted.

I'd rather believe it was a Yahoo account or, the worst of all, Facebook.

At any rate, I just had 10 cents wired to Emery to get him out of jail in
Greece. I figure with the economy over there in worse shape than here
they'll take any bribe they can get.

I also hope Emery's arm heals OK and that he finds his wallet before the
visit to the orthodontist to get his teeth worked on. I don't know what he's
going to do for attorney fees. Maybe one of you on here will send a nickel
or two. At any rate, Emery should enjoy the flight home by way of Bangladesh
unless his visa situation clears up and he can go through Honk Kong and
Manila.

Honestly, I'd like a quarter for every time I've gotten the "sad news" email
asking that money be sent out of the country to one of my best friends in
all the world. Do they really think people with email are so dumb?

It should not be necessary to delete anything. My email account password has been changed this morning so there should be no more emails sent like that one.

I have been assured by my email provider that it is not necessary for me to change the email address. My id password has been changed and they say that should take care of it.

It will not hurt anything to delete them both but the important one to delete is the entry point one (email server) which Billy says he has already done.

Since you probably have not seen the actual email that was sent out, you may not realize that the 'reply to' address in that email was emery.stora@yahoo.com and not your real address.

You might want to contact yahoo and get that email account shut down.

The original "hacked" message's stated originator was emery.stora@mac.com and there was ZERO mention of yahoo.

Not so. The Reply to, as Ken pointed out, referenced Yahoo. It depends on
how you're seeing the email and the other information in the header (which
most people never look at or even care about).
