Went to Gadsden over the weekend for the Dixielanders' rally. 300 miles more or less in lovely weather - no a/c or heater needed driving. Nights got into the 40s, the Dometuic heat pump was built for this, I stayed toasty warm the while. Kerry Pinkerton's XM receiver noise was classic alternator whine. Capacitor, double chek the grounding, and it ought to be fine. The worst case will require another cap on the sense wire. I ate too much, the food was excellent. Anyone who hasn't spent a night at least at Noccalula ought to. 22 bux, nice place, and pretty falls to go look at, right in town, too. Everyone signed a pair of 'get well' cards for Dan and Chuck. My coach did just at 10MPG running 2500RPM on the freeway, no hills to speak of. One caveat - don't buy decent gas at the Pure station on Keith Bridge Road here in Fklowery Branch - he's getting $4.69 a gallon. The Valero on 129 is at 4.19 which is less worse. In Anniston, 3.68.

Alternator whine on electronic devices is often the first symptom of one or more failed diode rectifiers INSIDE the alternator!
