My alternator started doing or more acurately not doing things today. Got back home by the old "run generator and jump isolator" trick.(thanks to whoever posted that ideal) Looked at the alternator the PO left me under the dinnete seat and checked the numbers, 1101046, it is supposedly a 100 amp caddy alternator. Any thoughts out there on this unit being put on a TZE. Best I can tell by readings and such; the rotor, field windings, and diode bridge and the trio diode check out fine. Any ideals, experiences, good or bad welcome. Just got to do something one way or the other.

Skip,
If it bolts on, it should work. Many of the later coaches were shipped with 100 amp alternators. It really won't overtax the wires in the coach because the batteries and the rest of the system will only take what they need.
My alternator was supposed to be 80 amp, but it seems that when I really work it, it can do 95 for short times and nothing leaks any smoke.

Skip
That 1101046 is a Delco Remy 100 amp alternator used on Cadillacs and Chevys.
It should work fine on an Olds engine.
That number is now obsolete and replaced by Delco Remy 1101178. However 1101178 is now obsolete as well. I don't know the new number.
I have used an AC/Delco (Autolite) 7757 100 amp alternator for a number of years. It might be the same thing.
