Bogies? Where did they come from and is there a bullet-proof (modern?) version?

Indulge me please. Some guys play “Fantasy Baseball”, I play “Fantasy GMC”.

In my last posting, http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=msg&th=28117&start=0&rid=1192
I speculated on the possibility of updating the GMC propulsion system and mid-way through the thread, discovered the new 2014 Dodge Front Wheel drive truck. With a GVW of near 10,000 pounds (in the 159” #3500 Chassis configuration), perhaps, it could be considered (with some additional ladder framing) for grafting under one of our 23’ or 26’ beauties.
The Mopar http://www.ramtrucks.com/hostc/bmo/CUT201403VF3L35A/2TA/summary.do
shows the low and flat floor but a single set of wheels with a decidedly low tech leaf spring set-up. Seems, the simple addition of another axle and spring set-up (re-positioned to match the GMC configuration) would be visually pleasing and increase GVW (and disk brakes are nice) but, I can’t imagine ride and flexibility could possibly be as nice as the GMC the bogie concept. I mean it’s simple but looks like a “buckboard”. I also think the listed tires (and wheels?) are not up to our application but, that’s another discussion for another thread.
I seem to recall that Jim Bounds did something with the Duramax conversions. CRS? Is there an off-the-shelf update (preferably with ABS and Disk brakes) system that could work here.

PS: Given that this is the GMC Fantasy League (We’re spending Monopoly Money), I’m looking at this like a slightly more complicated frame replacement: Doesn’t seem like $30,000. would be too much to spend for the major physical components
http://www.ramtrucks.com/model-compare/quick-chart/?modelYearCode=CUT201403&variation=0,2.
If this whole thing were be done for under $100,000. (Yes, I know the DuraMaxs were a multiple of that) could this be a viable update?

PPS: If the Chrysler warrantee isn’t breached, such might make this less risky, no?
Discuss.
