I've been at the salvage yard several times this week to find parts to install EFI, and cruise control on our 78 Royale. I've put these lights on some of my other things. These work lights have an 18 ft core that winds up internally. The 12 volt light that's on the end of the 18 ft cord has a magnetic base. There is a fuse holder, and an on/ off switch that is on the main base unit. I finally picked up 4 to put one in the LP storage compartment in place of the original light. One in with the generator were it's light was. One up front to replace that original work light. And one under the inside engine lid. This placement allows me to have a good light anywhere on the couch at night,

Sorry. I left out what they came out of. That was dumb on my part. The lights come out of GM pickups, Blazers, and Suburbans. From 1988 to around 1996 at least. They're mounted on the inside of the right fender. Just to the rear of the battery. The base is held in place by 3 screws. The wiring harness is about 3 feet long. It has a 12 volt wire with a fuse holder. And a ground. The wires are attached to the top of the fire wall. Nut drivers for the screws, and terminals. Needle nose for the 2 harness holders. I've got them for $15 for 3, or 4 at a time. Bulk does work. It seems that the magic number for them seems to be $15.

Bob,
Thank you fot the details on the work light. I like the idea of adding one to the generator compartment, especially since I have the switch for the macerator in that area.
If you have no further need of your original underhood work light, Tom Henderson was looking for a lens for his.

Take a closer look at the one under the left hood of the GMC. It is a metal version of the 90's GM truck ones. Those things are pretty cool.]
