Some how during the resurrection of my 76 Eleganza all of the pin contacts became detached from the top rear of the speedo.
All of the pins are still lodged in the connector plug.
Is it possible to re-solder the pins to the speedo? If I can't do it my self where can I find a shop to make the repair.
Small appliance repair shops have gone away with the dodo bird.
Thanks for suggestions.

Thanks,
I could have bought another speedo at the Coos Bay swap meet last week.
But I don't want a new speedo-the coach only has 47,000 miles- it was stored for many years- I'd like to preserve the original odometer mileage for the next owner.
If it is too big a hassle I'll just continue to drive with out speedo lights. Everything else works.

Gene,
I had the same problem. I was able to buy a used speedo from Joe Ekl at one of the rallys. And, Forest Crow pointed out that the circuit board with the pins can be removed from the back of the speedo with a couple of screws and swapped out. You have to remove the speedo cable, but, importantly, don't have to take the speedo out from the dash if you go in through the cover on the back of the instruments. Not having to take the speedo out is a major bonus, as it's a giant pain to hook the little PRNDL cable back up. Plus, it would allow you to preserve your original speedo and mileage. I think I only had to pay $10 for the used speedo. Having lights is great, especially turn signal and high beam indicators. Good luck!

We just had the same problem for those same pins. Two of them came off. We used 14 gauge solid copper wire and filed it down just a little at a time so it would slide into the pins. Then cut off the wire so there's about 1/4 inch protruding from the pins. Then filed down those as well carefully until we could push them into the back of the speedometer in the appropriate holes with enough resistance to keep them in place. We used dielectric grease to help slide the pieces together and also help with conductivity. It worked and it's important as those are for the turn signals and probably for the bright lights indicator.
It's tedious but it worked. Now that it has been mentioned that that part of the back of the speedometer can be removed we'll have another look and if we can remove it we'll solder the repair in place. Those pins are now reinforced and should last a while.

Hope this helps,

Mickey,
Your post with pictures and text description is what makes this forum so great.
That is one of the best descriptions of the simple solution to a problem that I have seen posted in 12 years of reading the gmcnet.
However, others have stated that the whole circuit board is replaceable. If I can get the parts I'll go that way. Simpler for me and permanent.
Thanks to all for suggestions.
