On the way home from Coos Bay my moho was wandering and
required constant attention to keep it in the lane.
Today we inspected the front end with my wife wiggling
the steering wheel while I was under the coach looking
for loose parts.
It seems that the tie rod end was loose where it
slides into the tapered hole in the knuckle.
The tie rod end has probably been loose for a while.
Question: Has anyone checked to see if the original GMC
tie rod ends have the same taper as the K3500 One-Ton knuckle?
And does the K3500 knuckle have to be reamed with the correct taper?
Thanks,
Bill

On the Hubler Version II, the knuckle that we supply with the kit is taper
reamed to fit the tie rod that we use in the kit. As I can not see your
pieces, I don't know what you have. Do you have a thin distressed nut on
the tie rod stud, or a castellated nut with cotter pin?

I disassembled the tie rod end this morning.
My tie rod ends have castellated nuts.
The nut was not snug, not even tightened.
I unscrewed it after pulling out the cotter pin,
without using a wrench, very loose.
It was had 1/8 inch play.
Jim K supplied the kit.
The taper on the tie rod end is 1.125" per foot.
The hole on the One Ton knuckle looks to be 1.5" per foot taper.
Which is the correct tie rod end to use with the knuckle?
Do I need an adapter sleeve to mate with the Toronado tie rod end?
Or do I use the K3500 tie rod ends?
Thanks,
Bill

Jim,
On my setup there's a castellated nut with a cotter key on the tie rod stud.
