I just noticed in our 12V schematic for our 77 Kingsley (ZEO 6581) on page 98 of our operating manual there's an auxiliary furnace blower. Looks like it might be in the duct work under the closet or somewhere in that area.

Were these standard equipment or optional? And where would it be exactly if we have one?

Thanks!

It might or might NOT be there. A lot of them had been removed by PO. They really didn't work very well.

That blower is to move air to the bathroom . It is noisy uses too much current when dry camping and is pretty much useless. Most folks disconnect it.

Thanks for the replies. Where exactly would it be if it were still in the coach? Did it turn on at the same time the furnace blower did or was it switched independently?

Thanks again.

In mine it came on with the furnace and it was located behind the stove.

On my 76 edgemont it is in the very back, under the bed, and has a lot of
extra flex tubing, then blows out the back bedroom vent, it does not work...

I'm thinking to streamline the venting ducts, reconnect the tubing to three
bathroom, eliminate the extra blower.

a lot of people use the big buddy heater, if this is interesting - i hope, i think this is what i shall do

but it never gets cold here in L.A. but if i go sking, this is a good deal, it can be taken out side as well

as attached to your main line inside with a hose that can be moved around where you need it. This seem

to be a good way to heat the area inside and out. use the areas for the other heater on board for storage.

This is my way to go, hope it helps someone else to think about other ways. I have not bought it yet, but

it seems a good design. mickey anaheim ca. 77 palm beach.

I was reading the manual that came with my new Suburban furnace and I believe they recommended not to use an external blower in the duct work, that it could interfere with the fan switch. That being said, I'm not sure if the Sol-Aire used a fan switch, I never got around to reading that manual.

Jerry

PS: I used a Buddy Heater in a Toyota Sunrader motor home that I had, as a backup whenever the Suburban was running down the coach battery in a dry camping situation or whenever I needed something that was silent. I kept the Sunrader vented and of course had a carbon monoxide detector. It kept that 21 footer toasty.

In my 1977 Kingsley it is located just behind the stove to the left.
You have to remove the stove to get to it.

It was standard.

It provides air flow to the small (1-1/2" or so) duct that goes from the blower around the back of the closet and the rear of the motorhome and then below the front lip of the water tank and ends up in the bathroom to the wall besides the toilet on the sink side.

It does move some heat into the bathroom and probably helps to keep the water tank from freezing in very cold weather but I don't think the noise generated from the blower is worth the relatively small amount of heat it provides to the bath.

That Suburban manual is referring to a fan in the large hose that brings heat to the main ducts. The little blower in the small duct would not interferer with the fan switch. Yes, the Sol-Aire did use a fan switch (commonly referred to as a sail switch).
