Just replaced all the hoses on the Royale. Everything is fine except water does not appear to getting to the water heater as the hoses are cold. The dash heat works so I know water is flowing. The water heater is on the floor in the cabinet under the oven. Do I need to vent it somehow (i.e. loosen one of the hoses) or just drive it a bit more?

I did not need to burp mine -- but I did use KenH's refill system.

If you don't do something like this, it can take up to 3 heat/cool cycles to get all the air out of the system.

That's a good idea. I'll try that next time, which should be in, oh, 10 or 12 years ;o)

FYI anyone who thinks their hoses don't need replacing be forewarned: The 3/4" heater hose on my coach looked fine. Once removed I discovered I could break it in two just by bending it to the point of kinking, about 45 degrees. And I mean breaking into two separate pieces. Even the reinforcing cords broke.

I did not burb mine last year when I replaced mine. But yet, I did drain mine shortly afterwards to replace timing chain and water pump. I would expect a 15 minute ride to be enought to atleast get most air out. I do know on mine that after engine ran for 30 minutes i felt the hoses warm in th eback.
I do think all of us who have replaced our hose to water heater have been surprised.

I have been wondering if there is a rule-of-thumb for the age of heater hoses. I replaced mine with the best I could find about 5 years ago and I am wondering how long I should trust them.
