So after much frustration with the OEM monitor panel on my 78 rear twin Royale I've decided to replace it with something else.
As much as I like the classic look of the old panel I'm going to replace it entirely with a plastic or wood plate and install a SeeLevel 709-PH. this model includes switches to control the water pump and heater. I haven't decided what to do for the generator monitoring and control.
I looked through the photos at the GMC site and didn't see much in the way of monitor upgrades. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

As I was driving home yesterday from Coos Bay Rally, northward bound on US
HWY 101, somewhere in the vicinity of Sea Lion Caves or Devil's Churn, it
occurred to me that I was very glad that I did not have any more dash gages
that were calling out to me to take my flippin' eyes off the road to
detract from the fantastic panorama that nature created. Hauling along in a
12,000 pound vehicle, towing a trailer also heavily laden from the vendors,
on that twisty road requires a fair amount of my attention. Gages, "don't
need no more stinking gages". (VB GRIN)
Jim Hupy (let me see, speedo, oil pressure, transmission temp, final drive
temp, tach, vacuum, coolant temperature, back up camera, must be a couple
more I can fit in there somewhere.)

Richard,
The monitor panel used in the GM fitted coach for the most part was unchanged during the production run. The coaches that were upfitted by other did have different monitor panels.
May I ask what was wrong with yours? Replacement panel are available:

I also used JimB's micro monitor with good success. In addition, I did convert to a new Generac generator remote panel.
The simplicity and price of the Micro Monitor attracted me, and it works fine.

Even though I have a brand new SeeLevel II 709-PH sitting on my workbench I feel obliged to take one more swing at keeping the old Wemac Monitor Panel. I like the OEM look and nothing screams 70s like that brass colored panel.  I believe the majority of the problems lie with the wiring harness. After some preliminary inspection I have discovered numerous wire breaks as well as a bunch of scotch-locks and wire nuts.
I'm not all that thrilled with the routing of the harness as it is literally hanging off the frame rail and exposed to the elements. I think a better route would be inside the coach if I can get it around the shower stall (Royale side bath).
My thought is to build a custom wire harness and route it from the monitor panel through the refer bay, around the shower stall, under the bath sink to a place under the DS twin bed. There I can split the harness into two, one leg going to the generator, the other to service the tank level circuits and water pump. NO SCOTCH-LOCKS or Wire Nuts. I'll use terminal boards or multi-pin connectors.
Does anybody have a source or part number for the generator start/stop switch on the Wemac? I believe it was a Chicago switch. My coach is in the shop for the next week and I won't be able to get to it. I'd like to order the darn thing.
