This morning I completed the final steps to have my Onan running on its own. Many many thanks to all who have helped or offered advice, especially Sean Kid.
Issues resolved:
No crank - new starter motor
No spark - new points, condenser, control board - still no spark
No spark - check oil and bypass low oil shut off circuit
No fuel - run gravity fed line from aux. tank (gravity is free!!)
No fuel from pump - check, clean, repair all connections - got fuel
Reassemble all components and Mr. Onan is alive and producing electricity.
Remaining issues:
Voltage at idle is a little high at 132 volts
Check high load voltage with AC running
Remote controls are not functional
I believe the remote control wires are severed under the coach. i will have an assistant help me test continuity and positively identify each wire. I am hoping remote control should be easier than what I went through above.
Onan running is a milestone for my project. Again, Many thanks to all who have offered knowledge and advice on this and other topics.
Also thanks to Ken Frey for a great carb rebuild.
Coach runs and drives great. I will continue to work on additional safety, reliability, and performance. Wish I could be at Coos Bay.
