Hi Folks,

I'm putting my windows back together after replacing some parts and I noticed that the vertical retaining bar could be a continuing source of noise.

Any suggestions on cushioning the glass as it sits in the retaining bar would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Jim

A little confused by your bar description. Are you indicating the retainer bars (4) per window that holds it against the body? Or, the bar on the edge of one of the pieces of glass. Jim Bounds, when he replaces the felts, reattaches the bar to the frame with a pop rivet.
The body of the window is cushioned by your bedding tape. Should be neither rattling or lose. The tape provides waterproofing for the seam and serves to cushion the joint. The windows will shift a little, due to normal driving vibrations.
To help manage the windows while installing them, use the cheap double headed handle from Harbor Freight.

Thanks Tom,
Yes I am talking about the living space windows and specifically how the glass lies in the vertical retaining bar channel.

I also used the glass handling tool - it was very helpful in handling the glass. Inexpensive but really useful. A PO had used plain steel screws on the bar and I was lucky to get all but one out the easy way. Will use aluminum this time.

I was just wanting to get something between the glass and aluminum in the retaining bar channel but not sure what would fit.
