When bringing the Clasco back across the country from Florida to Oregon we lost a $.50 keeper in the transmission that necessitated a 200 mile tow to Manny's place to get fixed - after Manny and Ken H. made a mad dash rescue mission to no avail. What finally convinced the insurance company to pay for that long tow when they began by wanting to tow to nearby RV repair facilities was my request that they first ask two questions. 1) how many 425 transmissions has your shop rebuilt in the last 20 years? 2) how many 425 transmissions has your shop removed from and replaced back into a GMC motorhome in the last 20 years? I also asked him to look on the net at several of the URLs I gave him pertaining to the history of the GMC. The supervisor did call all around and apparently did ask those questions. He also apparently did look at the URLs because when he called back an hour or so later he said, "wow, there are only 8000 of those left and they are really neat". "I couldn't f
ind anyone who even knew anything about a 425 transmission, let alone have any experience with them". "I will have a flat bed to you in an hour". Right on schedule, a 40 foot low boy showed up and we were on our way the 200 miles to Manny's.

Ken,

First of all I am sorry that the engine "played up" on your way home, however, you have demonstrated that with tenacity,
perseverance, and courtesy you can WIN with the argument with the towing service provider.

If you have time it would be helpful if you could share as much detail regarding your discussion and argument with the towing
service supervisors. I reckon if it worked once it would work again.

This information could be used to create an addendum to the Towing Document on the GMCES website.

Regards,
Rob M.
