Hi all...
With ethanol becoming more prevalent everywhere, I am wondering what the long term affects will be on the various components of the fuel system in our GMCs. Mainly, the various rubber gaskets, seals, etc. I read and found there are a couple of products that claim to neutralize ethanol. Forumla X2 - http://www.formulax2.com - is one that guarantees protection against ethanol. I'm considering trying some of this, especially when winterizing the coach, on the chance that it may help protect the system. Anybody ever heard of this or used one of these products with good/bad results?

Really? That's a neat trick! Any company that is willing to put such a total BS statement in print is to be avoided.

I didn't catch that on the website... nice, and I definitely agree that false statements is a concern. What do you guys use in your coach if it is going to sit for a while, to treat the gas? Ethanol-free gasoline is getting harder to find, so I was starting to look around for suggestions on how we can deal with it.

I've always used Sta-bil products and Plus grade gas in my boats with great success.

I use either Sta-Bil or SeaFoam. Instructions indicate a double normal dosage for long term storage. Fill tanks with Gasoline to reduce interior volume of "free" air space and its accompanying water vapor. Water is pretty much a bummer.
Frankly, a compound to separate or break down the water molecule into it's component parts would be one of the Holy Grails of physics. Takes more energy to do that than the individual elements
contain.

Sta-bil now does have an ethanol mitigating product on the shelves different from the traditional stuff. I haven't looked into it, but I know it came with my new weed whacker with instructions to use as an additive or lose the warranty.
I've used seafoam and full tanks with pretty good results.

Even E-0 gasoline degrades over time. I used Sta-Bil for my boat over the winter, even though I normally put a few hours on it between 1 December and 31 March. Sta-Bil has had a specific formulation for E-10 fuels for several years now. Somebody suggested double dosing from what Sta-Bil specifies; probably not a bad idea.

Thanks for the comments. Will take a look at the Sta-bil and Sea Foam products. I see the Sta-bil Ethanol Treatment is supposed to help prevent components from damage by ethanol plus it has the added benefit of longer fuel storage.
The tough part is that it's hard to prove that it's working. But I'd rather take a chance on the safe side.

I've also had good luck with Sta-Bil products, and I'm sure the ethanol mitigating formulation is as good as it can be.
The real problem is that it's really a shame to have a full tank of fuel degrading over the storage period, would seem better to have just a bit of fuel in the tank and then fill with fresh gas when you're going to be using the coach.
Obviously, the best thing is to keep using it and burn up those dead dinosaurs!

I have been using the stabil marine formula for about two years in all my atv's, boat, and the GMC since I got it this summer. It claims water, ethanol and storage problem reduction. I can tell a difference pretty quick in the atv's if I don't use it - smaller tanks and smaller carbs are like small sailboats - you can tell quick when you are doing it wrong! I read somewhere that it has a less evaporative additive that skims the top of the fuel that essentially separates it from any air in the tank. Who knows, nice sounding theory.
