I noticed water dripping from under my propane tank so I pulled up my mattress and looked at the water pump. Sure enough the leak was on the output side of the pump. The leak was a cracked output barb on the pump so I replaced it. When I turned the water back on everything looked fine so I cleaned up. When I went to put the cover back over the water tank, it would not lay flat. I realized that the water tank was full and looked about to burst. Outside, water was squirting out the water fill cap above the propane tank. The new water pump was allowing water to pass through it when it was not running and the water tank filled. This seems like a very simple system so I believe the pump is defective. I've removed the pump and sealed off the inlet line to the water pump until I can replace the pump or determine what the problem is. I'm a full timer so I have city water. With the pump removed I can blow on the inlet side and at first thought it was fine but I hooked up a hose to the inlet side and water gushes out the outlet side.

During all of this, enough water leaked all over the place and soaked the carpet between the bath and the closet. I soaked up all I could with towels and got out a space heater to dry up the remainder. After a day I've noticed that the carpet in that area is saturated again. Outside I see no water dripping. I looked again at the water pump area and no leaks. I don't believe the water tank was damaged but cannot figure out where the water is coming from. The carpet is now soaked up to the kitchen area.

You guys always save my bacon although I'm still struggling with by furnace issue, but this is far more urgent. We GMC owners are so fortunate to have this forum. Thanks for all the help, past and future. I try to help to help others when I can but this issue plumb evades me.

So, my questions are: Is my new pump defective and more importantly, where is all the water coming from?
