Today was the first big day at the rally and it was a great one. The weather was magnificent.
Don Stuckey did a great session on sources of noises that was really eye opening.
Albert Branscomb did a wonderful presentation on various brake systems. It would have made a great 6 hour presentation/discussion that was unfortunately limited to an hour and a half.
The 'after' sessions were really enlightening. I probably learned more today than any single day in a long time. I continue to be amazed at how this community shares knowledge and offers assistance.
We're just getting started and if it was over now, I'd still be happy I came.

That's awesome, Kerry. The tech sessions at GMCMI are second to none. I wish I could have been there.

Mayby you then have a answer for this noise question?
There is resonnance from the front headliner, quite disturbing.
I hoped it would go away after I added insulation and a extra skrew to make it more stable.
It is a strange sound that goes away when I lean forward over the steeringwheel
I would love to get rid of it

I know vibs and noises travel around
Yesterday I repaired the broken frontpiece above the gril. Wondering why it was broken in several places. I found a missing nut at the lower stay that keeps the front to the house

Hello Lenze
Many of us have used four springs to hold the grill in place. Eliminate the bolts that constantly break out and just drill holes in the top flange and run the springs to the top corners of the radiator bracket with S hooks, and do the same on the bottom flange.
I had posted this back in June 2000 so mine have been in for over 13 years
now with no problems.
"My grill is not the original. It is a fiberglass replacement and I just
drilled two holes in the lip of the top and tow at the bottom openings.
They are 1/8" holes about 7-1/2" inches in from each opening side. I
haven't had any problems with the holes and I've been across country twice
with it.
If you have the cast plastic grille you might want to epoxy some small
stainless steel washers over the holes to give added reinforcement. You can
do this on the side of the lip away from the openings.
I used small "S" hooks in the holes to fasten the springs and also "S" hooks
on the other end of the springs to snap onto the radiator supports."
I had also posted pictures to the old GMC photo site that is now defunct so
I no longer have any pictures of this.
The springs are about 6 inches long (unstretched) and perhaps 5/16 or 3/8
diameter. You don't need too much tension to hold it in place.
