Overnighting in sikeston. Coach ran great. Ate supper at Lambert's...waaaay too much food. See y'all tomorrow afternoon Lord willing and the creek don't rise...

BTW that phrase has nothing to do with rising water. It has to do with the Creek Indian uprisings.

The Indians are too busy counting the money they're making at the reservation casinos! Rightly so!

Kerry, are you sure about that? I thought Lady and Lyndon Johnson made that famous because you couldn't get to their TX ranch house if the river was up.

It seems to me that it's just another way of saying, "come hell or high water", a saying which has probably been around since hell and water were invented. Then there's this:

http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-god1.htm

Regardless of where it came from it's a great turn of words.

I'll buy Kerry's analysis... the saying far predates Light Bulb's fame. My Granddaddy used it when I was a young sprat.
LBJ's best comment was when as a Congressman an aide asked him if another official would do what he (LBJ) needed done to pass some legislation. "I've got his pecker in my pocket. He'll do whatever I tell him." was the reported response. If you look back at LBJ's power as a Congressman, he was probably correct.

And "hell" as a place of eternal torture was an invention of the Greeks, well before the time of Christ!

It is definitely not Biblical in origin, but was somehow adapted (bastardized ?) into "Christianity" long after the time of Christ.

Passed a peaceful night at the Town and Country RV park($25). The owner asked if we were going to Lamberts and when I said yes, he gave me a brochure and said to call that number and they'd pick us up and bring us back and we wouldn't have to unhook the toad. They did and it was really handy.

Ken Burton had mentioned a place called Worthington AG that he referred to as the "Duracool store". Turns out it is literally next door. What are the odds of that?

Going to stop by on the way out. I could walk but don't know how much I'll get and don't want to tote a case back over the gravel driveway. As soon as Carolyn gets her face out of the jar, we'll be on the road.

Kerry, glad your experience was good in Sikeston. Lamberts is quite a tourist place to visit. Worthington is a good place to deal with, I have found.
We are sitting at the Butler County Courthouse parking lot til 4 pm. We will leave Poplar Bluff then for Branson. Cabool has good gas price and Murphy's is just off the exit on the right.

Kerry,

We made it some campground in Springfield, MO. Don't know the name cause we didn't pay attention at 8:30pm when we got here. Today
will be spent visiting things to do with one of our GREATEST Presidents; Abe Lincoln.

We will make it to Branson tomorrow avo.

Regards,
Rob M.

You must have been really tired last night

Not only don't you know what campground you are in but I suspect you don't know what State you are in.

Springfield, ILLINOIS is where the Lincoln museum and other Lincoln things are.

Mac, that is a false statement if you read your New Testament. Not going to get into it here but will be glad to discuss Mark 9 with you on "eternal Hell" privately.
