G'day,
Turned on the manual shutoff valve upstream of this valve and discovered that it was leaking. Nah, that's a lie, should have said
'remembered" that it was leaking last year!
At any rate anyone got one spare that doesn't leak?
Are new ones available - I haven't checked the GMCMI Parts List.

Do you have a part # for the heater core? it available from local parts houses?
One of mine is leaking- maybe I can have it repaired at a local radiator shop.

I have not looked in the parts exchange -- I am not aware of a direct replacement heater core. Your thought on repair by a local radiator shop is probably the best approach.

Rob,
Check the valve before you leave the store. It is a vacuum to close, so it should be open as it sits. I got one that was in a wrong box.

That replacement core is only $26.99 -- surprisingly inexpensive -- at Autozone.

G'day,
While driving from KenB's hanger to Springfield, IL to visit Lincoln's birthplace, I turned on the heat and the cockpit got warm.
Not very warm just mildly warm. I verified flow from the defrosters, not much. This is the first time I've ever messed with the dash
heat and it appears to be as lame as the A/C! Now you're saying to yourself; "why does this dummy think it would be better?" To
which I'll respond; "beats me!" ;-)

I gave the AutoZone parts guy the P/N Dennis supplied and they had one in stock. I then asked him if I could look at all their stock
of heater control valves and he said sure.
We went through them one by on until we found Everco part number 5968.
I'll take a picture of it when I get to Branson. It is a straight inline valve with a ball for flow control.
I didn't check it as I wasn't aware that the OEM valve was normally open - close on vacuum.
When I got the OEM part out and found it was normally open close on vacuum it was a YES moment; as opposed to an AW S#!T moment!

A couple of things here....
Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky, but if you mean the Lincoln Library, that is a great stop. Be sure to take in the "Ghosts of the Library" show.
Next, unlike most, we have used our coach in cold weather so much that we have used all the heating contrivances multiple times.
The defrost may seen weak, but remember, the outlets are twice the length of the same in a passcar. They do actually work.

Today we visited Lincoln's tomb and his home in Springfield, Illinois.
Had an interesting conversation with a National Parks Ranger when I mentioned that I had seen the movie Lincoln and noted that even
back then politics was a "dirty" business. He noted that went all the way back to the Greeks!
