Are all torque specs posted somewhere on line? I know Alcoas are 140. What is Pitman to gear? Gear to frame?

great point

virtually every bolt and nut on the GMC needs to be torqued.
- to make sure we do not miss any
- not because they need to be that accurate
- these torque numbers exist in manuals, emails, etc

I would like to post these all in one place if someone will collect them
- prob. ROB, OR JR

anyone have a list ?

Gene,

I've worked on just about every part of Double Trouble and whenever I needed to know the torque I just went to the appropriate
section of the Maintenance Manual, they're in a separate section at the very back along with a listing of special tools.

I appreciate you wanting to put together a list but why bother re-inventing the wheel.

Now if there are any that are missing I would agree we need a list entitled "Torque Values GMC Forgot To Provide." ;-)

Regards,
Rob M.

Greetings:

Torque values can also be found in the assembly manual.

You should be able to find those in the GMC maintenance manual.

I was sort of being lazy and trying to avoid digging out the CDs. A PDF of just torques would be handy though time consuming to assemble.

Yes, you can. Any of the original GMC will have torque values in the Maintenance Manual. Here are some for the 75-25 MM. I was responding to John Lebetski when he asked what were torques for the Pitmann (arm) to the gear (box) and the Gear to Frame. Those are in the maintenance manual.

> body bolts through the pads see page 2-4
> ball joint attach bolts GM riveted them so, of course, there wouldn't be any torques in the MM. When you buy ball joints there is a paper in the box giving the torques.
> exhaust header bolts -= remflex /copper/center /... GM didn't use headers. Manifold torques are on page 6A-32
> ragusa step bolts There were no Ragusa steps when the GMC was built so go to Ragusa if you need to.
> center - one ton , nut Not a part provided by GM for the GMC motorhome

> seat belt bolts Page 1-20
> lug nuts - old/new, no difference Page 10-2 for original wheels, for Alcoa or others see manufacturer for torques (Alcoa = 140).

Good project for your cold winter nights this coming winter, John. Be sure to include every possible add on so that Gene is happy with it too.

I know Alcoas are 140 by memory but that tightening sequence is tough to remember if you haven't done recently.
