Hey guys...

Im unsure how I would go about repainting the interior cabinets? Id like a lighter color, so here is what Im contemplating as a major winter project:

All upper cabinets are out of the coach. The bathroom and lower cabinets will be done in place...

Here are my proposed steps:

1) Scuff with sandpaper (grit yet to be determined. Ideas?)
2) Clean with thinner/degreaser
3) Paint with Kilz Sealer/primer
4) Top coat with Krylon Fusion spray can paint.

Do you guys think this will work? Im open to new ideas or methods?

This will happen prior to re-doing the ceiling panels. The old panels will be removed prior to the start of the cabinet re-paint.

Thanks...

Steve

I just refinished my home cabinets with the Rusoleum Cabinet Refinsh kit. It includes the prep components, base coat, finish, and seal coat all in one package. One kit did my kitchen with half to spare. You can tint to whatever color you want.

It worked good on the home cabinets. I would assume it would also work well on the coach cabinets.

Use an ammonia based cleaner to knock down accumulated crud off the cabinets before retreating.

Lighter color does make things seem larger. We did a light grey beige on the walls from the entrance to the windows on each end of the bed a couple of years ago. Used a Ceramic paint made especially for cabinets. Our Benjamin Moore dealer had it. Used the appropriate Kilz under it. Wash down with a good grease cutter and lightly sand. Also can fill and prep any bad spots. I used the fiberglass filler I use on the cars. Anyway holding up very well. Easy to wash. I used a very fine mini micro roller which made it almost as if it was sprayed. Louvered doors would take a brush or spray. Just what we did.
