I headed out early Sunday morning on our long-on-duration, but short-on-distance trip. Since none of my air conditioning is functional unless I’m plugged in, I decided to skip church in favor of a cooler ride.
We are spending the next 4 weeks parked in Atlanta (about 135 miles door to door) in front of my daughter and son in law’s house, taking care of our newest (and only) grandchild, the ever-handsome, multi-talented and semi-precious 3 month old Owen.
I had a delightful first half of the trip and decided to stop at the old DQ for a chili dog or 3. When I went to start the coach it did nothing. Not a sound. Auxiliary battery was the same. DRT (Dead, Right there).
I tightened and removed every cable I could find or reach to no avail. Talked to a couple of Blacklisters and got moral support. A nice guy named Keith stopped to help. Keith is a great guy and a Georgia Bulldawg. He ultimately made the call that got me in touch with the shop owner who would help me out. I called AAA.
Elise was about 2 hours behind me in the Jetta so she arrived about the same time as the wrecker. We transferred to necessities and proceeded to Atlanta with our clothes, two dogs and the parrot.
The coach was repaired by 2:00 on Monday and we are plugged in at the children’s house. The service At Mitch's Automotive in Barnesville, GA was prompt and the price was reasonable. AAA got the coach there in good condition.
I just wanted to write and say that it was really no big deal. The problem turned out to be a battery cable short somewhere I could not find without a pit or a rack.
I like that these things can be worked on by almost any competent mechanic...and that I get to sleep in my own bed.

Stick,
Glad to hear it was so simple.
Now about this month away from Ameri'cus: I might make home before then.
Who's gonna be there to hand me tools to put this thing back together?

I'll be home about the same time you get there. We might offer one more week in October, but this is WORK!
Thanks Ted. I've thought about having someone work on my air conditioning while I'm here, but I have it level and I probably won't move it.
