Jim,

Thanks for the info on the drive to Coos Bay. Very helpful, and I have printed out your itineracy info and will use it.

We drove the coast highway some 40 years ago and I remember doing wheelies inside that huge hangar at Tillamook in our '74 Monte Carlo! That car is now older than our coach but we took it the NZ with us. Wonder if it is still on the road down there?

We will be flying into Portland (from Calgary) and renting a car for the drive to Coos Bay. Time is short so we will not be able to amble much. Is the route down I5 then OR 38 the quickest?

Hello Peter

I think the quickest would be I-5 to 38 to 101. I think the exit for 38 is 162 or 163. Bonus is that it will still be scenic. We leave tomorrow by way of the most indirect route.

The last time I was at Tillamook NAS, they had a complete Lockheed SP2H,
totally unmolested, just as it was when it left its last squadron. The
docent wouldn't let me board the aircraft to verify that statement. From
the exterior, it looked just like the P-2's from my old Navy days
