The speedometer bounces and ticks rhythmically below 25 mph but works fine at higher speeds. I'm going to try lubing the cables first, but any other ideas? In my past experience with cable driven units speed wasn't a factor. Thanks!

Check the lower cable where it traverses past the headers. I have found
several of the cables where the headers have melted the entire outer cable
sheath and left the inner cables exposed. This area needs heat shields to
protect the speedometer drive as well as the cable. I have used nomex
sheath over the outer cables, as well as thin aluminum tubing for shields,
the thin shielding works longer in my opinion.

My speedometer in the coach bounced alot prior to removing the cruise transducer. I ran the long cable directly to the tranny and shielded the area near the headers to protect from heat. After that, no more bouncing. I am going with electric cruise so the change shouldn't hurt anything.

Ours did that and I did not have the short cable in the mix. The ticking irritated me more than the bouncing.

I pulled it out and tried some lube on it. We were in the New Mexico high country and so I used what I had. I believe I just used grease, which I have since read is a no no.

The funny thing is that it fixed it only to have it do it in the morning a couple of times. Then, I guess things worked in as it has behaved for the last couple of years.

Not sure this helps, but apparently in my case it was binding.

mine did that right before the odometer stopped working. i unplugged the cable because i didn't want to kill the transmission governor.
