Back in March, JimB showed off The Progress So Far(tm) on the Dometic
LW3000 briefcase inverter generator solution for a 26 foot. He had two of
these, on slides, with a remote start and exhaust routed out of the
compartment, and fuel feed from the main tanks. There was still some issues
to be resolved, if I recall correctly, and I think he said that it wasn't
ready for prime time yet.

I really like the idea of two little generators. If I turn my Royale into a
rental unit, I'd prefer to toss in a couple of these things than try to
find a scarce EV6010 or source another Onan and then get it running right
(never mind the hassle of getting the heavy thing put into the empty hole
in my Royale).

Anybody know what the current status of the re-power project is?

Robin, my Royale is the test model for the dual installation and if you're reading the Pose, you know that it's in the body & paint mode now.

Based on my single gen installation in the Birchaven, my gut call is that this is going to work ...but there are some kinks.

First, though, let me cover my primary concerns because that's pretty good news. Noise & Vibration. In short, the single unit is quiet and smooth. I had a lot of concerns about the high RPM. That's no longer the case.

The remote start worked well. And it DID handle starting/running the new heatpump AC on the roof just fine. I test-drove it for about 1.5 hours mostly to see how that went.

Now the kinks/tweaks: We need to reduce the pressure of the fuel pump. It's flooding. And I don't like the under-side fuel connection on the gas tanks. Given our GMCs' clearance, these need to be protected with a simple skid bar.

For my Troy-Bilt installation, fuel pressure was also the big bug-a-boo.
No electric pump nor regulator I found would produce low enough pressure.
I finally found a small engine pump, on eBay, that operates on crankcase
pressure fluctuations -- problem solved. Rather than get fancy with an
automatic choke, I connected a low pressure electric pump to the starter
control lead -- providing a rich mixture during starting only -- 2nd
problem solved. I use the standard generator fuel connection on the main
tank.

Sorry for the delay posting a response here, the post landed in my Spam file for some reason.

Any time you modify something you will have "unexpected results", you have to have them to move forward.  It would be more of a post to put here so I'll talk a little about the Dometic generator on my site this mornig but in short, I was pleased with most all of the outcomes from all the mods we did to the 3000 watt Dometic unit, I'm most interested to work with the single unit we put in the 23' coach to see about the fuel system.

Ken, the generator came with a "wobble pump" running off crankcase vacuum, we found though that we feel it was vapor lock that caused the generator to shut down after a while with only that pump.   We installed a 2-3 psi pump with a check valve to stop drain back which seemed to work well.  There are lower PSI pumps and we may need to go there-- every day is a new experience.  You actually went through the same discovery with yours too.  If it bothered me to not have every experiment yeild total success I would have run away from the business years agho!  Actually, finding those unexpected results then work arounds for the issues spurs me on more.

We are still in discovery, at Dothan I talked about some of the unexpected results we were in the middle of at that time which were BTW overcome.  So from here we go up, I'll talk more about this on my pages
