Hi everyone,
This past spring I installed the aluminum radiator I got from Applied GMC. Although we have taken several trips so far this summer, each time we took it out the temps were always in the 70's or low 80's so I was hesitant to call the AL radiator a complete success. Well this past weekend we took the GMC for about a 200 mile round trip with the outside air temperature in the low 90's. I was excited to see the temp gauge, for the most part, stayed squarely on the quarter mark and occasionally move to just barely on top of the quarter mark. So now can I can officially say the AL radiator has helped significantly to reduce the coolant temperature on our GMC!
Prior to installing the AL radiator, the coolant temp typically would be halfway between the quarter and half mark when outside air temps were above 90 degrees. So those of you who are are having issues with high coolant temps like I did, the AL radiator could be what you need to get the coolant temp down where it should be.

Hi Gary,
I am using the original sender. I tried the NAPA PN that has been recommended my by the group but found it was way off. It read 3/4 on the temp gauge when the thermostat opened. I must have received a faulty one but decided to reinstalled the original one since it works fine.
Just FYI, when my thermostat opens the temp gauges reads squarely on the first mark, so that is no doubt 195.

I also installed the NAPA sender unit and it never changed from the
original one. Temp reads at or below 1/4 mark.

I changed the temp sender on both the CamoGMC and on the Stretch. It
made the difference that is shown on GeneF's web page. No idea what
thermostats I had in either of them, but it sure made the temp gauge
more useful (normal for me now is just a needle width below the 1/2
mark).
