If he was on the ground in Vietnam and has ischemic heart disease or one of
its equivalents (cardiomyopathy, ashd, CAD, etc etc), we can absolutely
help. If he's merely a Vietnam era Veteran, and never set foot in Vietnam,
then no, we can't help him. Other than arguably a non-service connected
pension that pays just a smidge more than Social Security and may be easier
to get. If you're at Branson come find me and I can give you the rundown on
how VA benefits work. Frankly, I suspect the guy is lying. If he swears
it's the truth, get his phone number and I'll call him from work.

Dan: NSC Pension is a program where if a Veteran has wartime service of at
least 90 days and a good discharge, if you ever become too disabled to work
(whether it be a mental or physical disability), VA will pay a pension
that's usually a couple of hundred dollars more a month that Social
Security would pay, and it's easier to grant. Thing is, the program is
income-based, and it offsets against other income (including Social
security). It's designed as sort of a last resort safety net. It doesn't
pay much, a little less than a thousand bucks a month. There's a bit of a
kicker if a Vet is married or has dependants or needs to be in a nursing
home, etc.
