Here is my opinion. Probably the hardware would be OK to use but it is not set up with the correct advance both vacuum and mechanical for a GMC.

I wouldn't mind carrying one as an emergency spare but for normal everyday use I would suggest that you contact Dick Paterson at Springfield Ignition in Ontario. He will build one to match you coach exactly. He will ask you questions like final drive ratio, and do you tow a vehicle. Then he will build on to match what you need.

If the advance curve isn't set up properly for motorhome use as suggested, just get a $10 spring kit, or take it to a local shop that does dizzy setups. I bought a similar dizzy for my old 23' jetboat's 454 and had the local GM engine builder/guru do the advance curve setup. Was $50 if I remember correctly.

I'll second Dick Paterson's distributors. Mine made and absolutely amazing difference over the stock one. As someone said, the car guys run much more RPMs

Appie,

I bought one of these (or similar) to carry as a spare. They are made in China and appear to be well made. Mark Bennett one of my
Aussie Mates bought one too. His had a mis machined gear or a bent shaft. He had a bit of difficulty with the seller (don't know who
it was) but eventually they replaced it.

IIRC it came with three sets of springs so you could set the mechanical advance.

Regards,
Rob M.

Kerry,

It is doubly amazing in as much the Paterson Carb made a smaller difference in performance my engine than the dizzy!

I bought one for a spare a few years ago. When I got my Patterson I decided to carry my old one as a spare and pay Dick the core charge. Passed the eBay unit on to another owner. I would never try to use one like this other than to get myself to a shop.
