If I can tag on to this idea: I replaced my 16.5 tires, as I didn't know overall operability of my coach in general, and tire budget doubles to switch to aluminum. My ride is still bad, so I think some of my steel rims are out of spec. So, whether securing from dually trucks, or figuring out wheels already in service on a GMC, how can we tell if they are bad? Can I ask my tire guy to test certain things now that my 16.5 Firestone Transforces are already mounted? Balancing didn't identify problem wheels, what next?
Thanks

| They spin them to balance them. If they were bent or out of round, it would have been obvious then. Your tire guy might not have noticed out of round, but bent enough to affect ride is hard to miss.
Rear suspension is as critical as front end alignment. Right up there with ride height. Are the bogey pins loose? Pay special attention to the slack of the front swing arm. It is only supposed to be 1/8" maximum at the end of the arm. Camber and toe of rear wheels should be zero. Worn bogey pins throw that way out.

It is difficult to tell. I helped someone from out of town get a set from our local Pull N Save-like Pull a Part. He was looking right at them and couldn't tell the difference. I can easily tell the difference because I had first went with Ford, then a couple of cone shaped Chevy, etc....You get the idea. It gets expensive switching them out and my tire guys gave me a perplexed look when I kept bringing them back for a switch. Once you do get switched out over to 16s, it does give you a sense of relief knowing you can find them anywhere.

Craig's List center dome looks correct, but listed as 7.5 x 16. Our rims are 6 x 16.
These may not fit, once tires are mounted, however, they would be great to use on the front with a wider tire. I think they would rub the body work in the back wheel we'll.
