Since Rob Mueller is going to be paying me a visit, and the wasps are all
dead dead DEAD oh frabjous day callou calay I think it might be fun to
shoot a video on Brake Bleeding with the Hupy Bleed-O-Matic (my name for
it, I don't know what he calls it).

Rob asked me to hit the bleeder screws with some PB-blaster or similar and
let them get good and soaked before he and his lovely wife arrive for a
visit. We'll take a look at the brakes and make a determination as to what
further parts, if any, need to be ordered for the future.

So, uh, what exactly am I looking for? Spraying somethign down with PB
blaster is certainly my speed, but I need to know what I'm looking for.
I've never done brake work before, wisely leaving something that can kill
me to the professionals. :)

Is there a link to a picture of what I'm looking for on the wheel cylinders
and the calipers? And what size plastic tubing fits over them?

Where is the bleeder port as opposed to the hydraulic brake line connector
in these photos? I may just hit Youtube... there's prolly some DIY videos
there that will show me the kind of thing I'm looking for already. :)

Robin,
Some pics in this link may help you.

The bleeder looks a bit like a grease fitting.

Robin,

It's the nipple that is sticking out under the red cap in this photo:

http://www.appliedgmc.com/products/full/981.jpg

Yours will NOT be nice and shiny; they'll be rusty and crappy looking which is why I asked to spray them with PB blaster!

The red cap is where the brake line goes into the rear wheel brake cylinders.

Regards,
Rob M.

I got out there and sprayed the bleeder ports with PB blaster. Wasn't hard
to figure out.

At some point the wind blew the tarp off the coach. Need a better way of
holding it down.

No sign of wasps. Didnt stop me from being scared though.

It's ready for when Rob and Tom get here so we can play with the brakes.

Robin,

You need to spray them more than once; every other day will be OK. Believe me if you have ever had to deal with a sheared off bleed
nipple you'd know why I'm harping on this!

A sheared nipple turns a relatively simple task into a nightmare!

Rob M.

So a friendly mechanic told me to ALWAYS keep caps on bleeder screws to prevent water from getting in the hole in the bleeder and migrating to the threads. More applicable to roadvehicles here in the land of ice and snow and road salt.
