Teri and I have learned that we can do major improvements ourself. This is one of them. Thanks to the folks at the Dothan Convention for showing us how. Next, Headliner and Large Window. When? Not Today.
Here is a link to a few photos of our morning's labor:

PS,
This old window is heavily tinted and will be given away to anyone that might need it and is coming to Branson. Otherwise it will hit the trash. Screen is not going with window.

I am contemplating swapping windows with another coach ...

It would be great to have some step by step instructions to go with this ...

The pictures, while helpful .. do not tell me enough, like where to start .. and what to look out for and what to have on hand as it goes on ...

Perhaps there is already a tutorial out there someplace where someone can post a link...

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks

Emery, she did build our kitchen and the glass engine cover, but today, she was my helper.
Caspar, I learned how to do this by watching those who knew, change my door window at the Dothan Convention. I have not seen any instructions nor am I qualified to write any. If you ever see it done once it is not bad. We had only 2 struck screws. The chisel made for easy work. Getting the trim off on a 74 is a bit tricky. After that is off, it is just getting the screws out and pushing the window out. Next one is the large one on passenger side. The small over head cabinets in the rear are an easy one man job.

Dan,

That's a good looking window! Are these the ones Jim K sells?

Yes Larry, Jim K sells them. Also Gene Dotson and Jim Buchanan sell them.
I have been picking these windows up one at a time for a few years. This one I got used. Traded a set of Tru Tracks for it. These are the first windows. I prefer them over the newer style. Teri and I are finally getting around to installing them. When the next one goes in we must drop the only overhead cabinet up front, replace headliner, which we have, and re do the upper wall around the window. It won't be a one morning job like this one. I spent a good bit of time this morning removing the old sealant from the "new window" so we could run the new stuff around under the trim.

Dan,

I'm near the end of doing my headliner and the coach is a shambles. I have to steal time to work on it when I can, and my good friend Ben has been a big help. I'm using the Masonite board and 3M aerosol headliner adhesive. I bought a roll of vinyl and so far it's an improvement.

The front most panel is longer (wider?) than 4' so I've had to split that into two pieces. Getting the headliner out of the hall required a small bit of assistance from a 2x4 and a jack to raise the roof a bit - the cabinets were pinching the headliner.

If I had it to do over again I think I'd use roll on adhesive. The spray cans are not free and the nozzle, though adjustable, isn't consistent. I've been referring to this stuff as spray snot.

Side walls will be next. Oh - I did replace the old crank up fan with a plain Maxx fan from Jim K. My beloved PO installed a Fantastic fan in the rear, though it was grounded to the 110v outlet!

I had some fun with the nutserts. Replaced them all with steel thanks to Bob!

Good luck with the project. I find that working over my head is more tiring than anything!

It is true that the first peace of headliner is wider as a 4 feet sheet, but the seccond piece i smaller end there is a beam just ahead of the one where the 2 first peaces meet

I made the seccond peace wider so it end on the next beam from hear a single sheet will be wide enough for the the front piece

Thanks for info on headliner. I will have the photo site worn out before I drop mine. There are some great pics, with detail, there. I like Rob Allen's pics. He did an excellent job with great photos. When doing things like this I wear out that photo site. I hate surprises.
