Well, gonna take the plunge and try to get my ac working. Steps taken:
1. Ordered tools: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E9DYVHC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3RCRUQZKOMTW7
2. Ordered dura cool:
Bought a case $105
3. Found Low and High pressure ports : Each has pressure in them. Wow, after at lease 15 years that I know of, there is still some pressure in them.
4. I have read that you can turn the compressor shaft by using a wrench and it should turn freely. If not compressor is seized up. True or false ??
I will try that today, then wait for supplies to arrive and start charging.
My one concern is all the vacuum lines that run the system. They are very old and a little brittle. Is it possible to get a new set ?? Thinking maybe I should replace them all or should I only replace the broken lines ??
