I've removed the vacuum module and when testing it, I can only get it
to travel 1/8 of an inch. With no vacuum, it rests in the center of
the travel. With full vacuum, it is at it's limit, which seems to be
about 1/8 of an inch. Does this sound standard? This is a 455
distributor I am working on.

It is not only about the amount of travel, but also about how much vacuum
it takes to move it at each position. Simple test is to use a mity vac,
hook up with a piece of hose, pump up the vacuum slowly while watching the
rod move. Also note if it leaks down. It shouldn't.
