Jim Bounds says these things will run broke. He is so right. I almost did not bring our coach to Dothan because it was broke and eating o2 sensors, with a stream of smoke out the tailpipe. Would not idle, was really sick. What the heck, I put another sensor in and off we went, in the dark so I did not see the smoke. Got almost to Birmingham and I noticed the sensor was gone. Kept driving and rolled in about 1 am after 600 miles.
Chuck Boyd and Rob Mueller pulled my intake and found the problem. Gasket was busted in three places. Jim K and Dick Paterson to the rescue with parts and back together it went. I still had problem but it was running nice and got us home safely. Replaced the throttle body when I got home and it purrs like a kitten. I guess my old throttle body has been leaking air for some time because I have had idle problems for many miles.
All that to say this, don't not come to a convention just because you have a problem. If I had not come I'd still be sitting here wondering what the heck was wrong with my engine. There are lots of very knowledgable folks at these conventions. People can guess what your problem might be when you post it here. But, let them get their hands on your machine and you just might drive home in a fine tuned GMC.
Hope to see you at Branson or a rally in the near future. You guys out west better bring your coaches to Coos Bay.

Dan,
I would like to make one thing abundantly clear to everybody, Chuck and I R&R'd your manifold by PRE-ARRANGEMENT.
Should any of you out there get the bright idea that you can bring your busted GMC to a rally or convention and drive home with it
fixed you've got it wrong; UNLESS of course it is the Bean Station rally or another work rally. There will be people there that can
help you diagnose the problems but PLEASE don't expect them to FIX it TOO!
For the most part guys the guys that have the skill to fix these old gals go to conventions to enjoy themselves; they don't go spend
their time working on coaches!
The reason I am stating this is I have been told be a number of different GMCer's that so and so wanted me to fix this or that at a
rally and when I told him I wouldn't do it he got upset!
However, if you suffer a problem on the way to a rally there will be a ton of help to get your coach going again if it is at all
possible.

I drive my Cad everyday and there is a Laundry list of stuff that needs attention,but still works.There always is pretty much warning that you need to fix.Like 4 or 5 starts out of an old starter.That is why I trust this old stuff.I have to be Smarter than the vehicle!!
Even with College!Late model stuff is stupid!!!!! Anyone Remember Kiss?
No not the band,the right way to do something?

You are absolutely correct Rob. I worried that this did not sound right after I posted but forgot to come back and fix it. Thank you
for that statement. I certainly did not mean bring your problems here and it will get fixed, but I must admit I did word it that
way. Sorry about that. I meant just because one has a problem does not necessarily mean you cant drive it to a rally or convention.
These guys can diagnose things better in person than over the internet. It may be something simple and we can help. I am no real
help but I can listen. Only because I had been talking with Rob and Chuck in advance did I come on with it acting like it was. Many
many problems are not overwhelming like I tend to think they are and these two convinced me of that. At Bean Station members of the
Dixielanders pre arrange work to be done and it gets done. No major work should be expected at a convention. However, I have seen
folks swapping transmissions and all kinds of stuff, only because the own
er broke down on the way and limped in. AND, the owner knew what to do and took charge. It is unbelievable how some of these guys
can do major work and spill nothing on the ground. The seminars are so helpful to first time attenders. They can learn more in one
of those than anywhere else I know of. Always take a look at what the seminar topics are at the conventions and big rallies like the
one coming up in Coos Bay. I will always regret not being able to get my coach to the Coos Bay gathering.
So, Rob and Chuck, I hope we are still buddies. :d

if you own a GMC within 100 miles of Branson, you have no excuse not to go to that convention. AAA will get you there free of charge. you can call them back after the convention to get you home too.
