Finally, FINALLY got everything back together. It seems like everything I touched had to be reworked, replaced, or found. (Where the hell did I put the..... you get the idea)
The tranny cooler lines were shot so new ones were made...that took a while and the new Manny Tranny had different fittings anyway that required adapters. Fortunately the local Advance Auto is only a couple miles away.
Yesterday, I primed the oil pressure with a drill, did a static timing set (Dang it's hard to see the timing marks), switched to the aux tank so the electric fuel pump would prime the carb, touched the key and VAROOM! I hadn't touched the carb during all this so it ran pretty good.
Today, I put the front wheels on, pulled the blocks out and took it for a ride (hence the previous photo  )
Timing is off, she coughed once and the idle is really low. I'll fix it tomorrow. I was thrilled that everything worked. I don't like making a bunch of changes at once. Makes it hard to troubleshoot things.
Some glamor shots of the engine bay. I told Ken Henderson that it made no sense to spend any time painting all the stuff that no one would or even could see but that I just couldn't help myself.

Couple other things I did was move my battery tray so I could fit the new oil cooler behind/below the right side headlight.
Basically, I unbolted the rear battery bracket, bent up a 11 gauge aluminum tray, and bolted it to the radiator frame and to the old front bracket.

In the above photo, you can see the new oil cooler, there is a 12V fan and a 180 degree switch. Here is a view of the cooler from above.

The only bummer is that my new braided oil cooler lines wouldn't work and I had to get some hydraulic lines made.
It took an entire freaking day to move the battery and mount the oil cooler. It didn't help that we've been in an afternoon heavy thunderstorm cycle for the past two weeks. EVERY DAY!
Anyway, a major hurdle is past. Oil pressure and vacuum is great, no noises. Happy Happy!

Nice job Kerry! Lookin' good! I know all that painting detail doesn't make sense, but that's exactly the way I would have done it.

Bruce, it's just manifold paint. Supposed to bake on but probably won't. I had seen the anti seize thing but forgot it. I have a spare gas grill I could have baked it with too...

I painted my exhaust manifolds with VHT high temp coating five years ago and, after 20,000 + miles, they still look about the same. That stuff stays on amazingly well.

The tranny cooler lines were shot so new ones were made...that took a while and the new Manny Tranny had different fittings anyway that required adapters. Fortunately the local Advance Auto is only a couple miles away.
Anyway, a major hurdle is past. Oil pressure and vacuum is great, no noises. Happy Happy!

Between the 3.21 and Manny's power drive. I went from a 3.07 to a 3.66. Definite improvement. I can accelerate up hills that I could not before.

Looks awesome, great job but don't wait to advance the timing as retarded ignition can cause overheating, with the new motor you want the least amount of stress. Soon you'll be driving it like you stole it.
