Replacing lines to, and from tanks. Drain plugs came out easily.

Yes, the main tank is at the rear.
That is the tank that has the pickup for the Onan at the top with the tube raised off the bottom so your Onan will stop before you run out of fuel. Helps prevent getting stranded if your Aux tank is empty.

However, if you have a Royale or Birchhaven Coachman didn't use that tube but just teed into the fuel line.

I can never be sure what's original on my '78 Royale and what's been replaced, but the main tank DOES have a separate feed for the generator (I presume it doesn't go to the bottom of the tank so it can't drain it dry). Maybe the PO decided to change the rear tank to get this feature (or got "the wrong one" during a replacement), but it sure looks like it was the original tank. YMMV

Mark

the GMC Transmodes that GM supplied to Coachmen did have the Onan tube built into the tank but were not supplied with an Onan. However the tanks were already mounted into the chassis so Coachman decided to save the labor of dropping the tank to connect the Onan. They took the easy out by just teeing into a fuel line.

Some Royale owners have dropped the tank and connected the Onan the way GM meant it to be.

Emery, thanks for that information. Now I have one more reason to be thankful to my beloved PO...
