I filled the tank in Carson City for the 30 mile trip to Reno as I entered my hot rod in Hot August nights. As I aproched the campground I noticed the gas gage showed half a tank ? When I stopped and got out there was a line of gas down the street I'll bet I got a whole 2 miles to the gallon. I gave the campground a nice petrol odor. The fix for this problem is tighten the gas filter with Chanel locks not hand tight even though I had always done it hand tight.

It sounds as if you had better replace the gasket on the filter.

The type Jim k sells (Cadillac) the other similar one never leaked in 20 years maybe my grip isn't what it was but at a loss of $50 worth of gas and a chance of a fire I'll make sure they are tight from now on.
