I don't use the cruise control and don't plan on reinstalling it. Can I just hook the speedometer cable directly to the connector on the tranny and bypass the cruise control box? It's a fairly sharp bend in the cable.

Has anyone done this? How did it work?

Yes, you could and there are longer cables available to give you the extra length if you wanted it.

I did that on my 77 with no problem. Fit fine.

The existing cable in mine worked with just a re route out the firewall off the back of the gauge.
