Hope everyone is well...I am getting ready to install my aftermarket refer vent door from one of the Jim's...this is a new install, my early '73 never had the door installed. There is an aluminum frame inside, but it is much smaller than the plastic one...it looks like I will need to cut through some of the framing to install this door...any suggestions or recommendations?

Get as close to the rub strip , then center the sides.
The new door does hav an frame, so it will not weaken the area much.
We have them instock

I replaced the original fridge vent on my Palm Beach with the one Jim sells and it certainly freshens the look instead of the old, aluminum one.

You do have to do a bit of trimming and cut through one support, but it doesn't seem to cause any problems. Once installed, I used a heat gun to soften the plastic and massage the corners of the vent to not stick out (due to the curved body). Also, putting an additional fastener directly in the corner of the frame helps hold it in position.

Sean,

When I installed a "modern" vent on my X-Birchaven, I was not willing to
cut the rib that ran down the middle of the opening. Instead, I cut and
heat-bent the "fins" in the plastic door to clear the rib. Been that way
for 15 years with no problem. The modifications are barely noticeable.
