As we say Downunder these two greases are near as dammit and as far as I can tell either one will work just fine to grease anything
on a GMC.

BTW Caterpillar makes a grease that is called Desert Gold that I use in Australia because neither of these two products are
available Downunder. Well at least I've never been able to find them.

I know there are other moly greases out there but they have limited distribution and therefore hard to get.

The bottom line is the MOLY!

Regards,
Rob M.

DuraBlend mentions being water repellent and SynPower doesn't. SynPower states extreme pressure fortified and DuraBlend doesn't. SynPower is "SUPERIOR high and low temperature protection" and DuraBlend is "EXCELLENT high and low temperature protection". Otherwise nothing significantly different. Sounds like DuraBlend is slightly better for our use.

Hal,

I think that two different people wrote up the info on both products is why there are differences in the info.

brake wheel bearings, steering linkage, chassis, suspension, universal
joints. Part number W632 in 1 # can. Temp range 0 -375 degrees, NLGI #2

Ashland, inc..in Lexington, Kentucky.. I have used it for several years.

Probably. But Durablend is a blend of synthetic and conventional
grease, which means that the oil is probably dino oil with the lithium
emulsifier, or synthetic oil with a soap emulsifier. Or something like
that. I've been using Synpower because it doesn't cost that much more
and I want the 100% synthetic for age resistance as much as anything.
But if I needed some and Durablend was what I could find, I know it
would work.

Yes, the moly is the key element.

Rick Denney, how are you ? Tell us about what youv'e been up to.
Are you still messing with traffic signals and tubas ???LOL

Re grease, I have some Moly-slip grease from back when. It certainly is fortified with moly but is probably "dino" greaase. I guess it would also work in a pinch.

Where does one find Durablend? When Ken Henderson and I installed the Manny Brake system on my coach, Ken told me to bring a tube and I looked at all the usual suspects and couldn't find it. Didn't try Napa but, my local Advance, Autozone, and OReilys didn't have it.

I've found the good Valvoline greases in both Autozone and in Advance
stores, unless they've stopped carrying it in the last few months.
Durablend is a Valvoline product, just like Synpower. I'm not sure all the
stores have all the good stuff, though.
