Got a 6kw. Its been running good but leaking a bit of oil so im gonna replace the adapter gasket and see if that does it. But my main problem that just started this morning is this. It will start up and as soon as you let go of the start button it stalls. I put a meter on the hot wire and it is energized when you are in starting mode but the power dies when released. I traced this wire around to the front of the motor behind the flywheel along with another from what looks to be the control board. The manual sez to jump the 9 to 11 and this will tell me if its the low oil shut down but it also mentions k3 maintains pump, coil and fuel solenoid. where should i start?
Also where is the best source for mufflers and starters for this machine?

You need the manual written by Duane Simmons. Find it/ print it/ keep it with you. I sure miss that guy :(. Someone here will post a link to it. All questions get answered.

For parts you can start at our site as there is only a handful that we do
not carry, We will tell you where you can get them .

as well as GMC MH parts and kit supplier.
Should we not be able to assist you, we will refer you to those that know
more and they will spend as much time as necessary, as we all refer one

David,
We spend time with our customers to make sure they get the most from the
purchase.
We service over4k GMC customers, and got that way by communicating on the
phone and taking active part in the GMC Community.
We over designed and over built a kit that was simulated and learned from
them that when your the first to introduce a part, you need to not rush it
and have so much into it to make people think we over charged people.
There is more to that, but you learn.

Well, there's a little winding on the alternator which produces voltage whaen the set is running to hold K3 in and power the fuel pump and ignition. Jumping 9 to 11 bypasses all this and puts voltage on the pump and coil. If the set runs properly when this jumper is in place, your problem is likely in the engine control card and/or its associated wiring. >Often< what happens is the connections to the card vibrate till the solder connection(s) break and become intermittent. Also, the components on the card can fail, as can the oil pressure sensor.
First test is to see if it runs with the jumoper. If not, look for a bad fuel pump or loose wire. If so, carefully remove the control card (Disconnect it at the white square Molex <tm> connector, not by the blade connectors on the card itself). Inspect the card, looking particularly for cracks and burint spots on the circuit runs, and where the connectors for the wires solder to the card. Cracks here will lead to intermittent operation or no operation at all. I take two pair of chain niose pliers and seperate the wires at the connectors, then 'a 'solder schluroper' and remove the solder where the connectors are crimped to the card. I tin a piece of stranded wire and crimp it through the connector mount hole onto the connector base, and out on the cicuit run, then flow solder on it. This gives a mechanical connection which can give just a bit and a good electrical connection.
If you look on Bdub's site, you can find the 4KW circuit card circuit put up by Ken Henderson which has ECG replacement numbers for the parts on the card. iIt is identical to the 6KW control card. Suspect the big caacitor, and if it's leaky orbad, check the diodes as well.

Spoke with jimk and he sez he has a control board for me. going thru the other 7 gennys to check out their status and then goingdown to fremont to pick up all my needed parts. todays job is to replace all the adaptor gaskets. im heading down to napa now(71miles each way) to grab some gasket material. does any one know the napa part number for the oil sending unit?

I did not read this entire thread. So if this is a duplicate then I'm sorry.
Jumpering Pins 9 to pins 11 does NOT necessarily say that you have a bad board. Chances are good that the board is bad BUT.....
The board energizes the fuel pump and the ignition based on several inputs to the board. Only after checking ALL of the inputs can you definitively say the board is bad. So if you want to throw a board at it, I would say you probably have a 75% chance of fixing it. If after throwing a board at it, the Onan still doesn't run, then you will have to check the inputs (and maybe the fuse) to find the real problem.
The inputs off of the top of my head are +12, -12, oil pressure switch, and 28 to 30 VAC coming from the on board alternator, Also the alternator voltage regulator can cause your problem.
