To All -

I pull the Pass. Side, Front Rear Wheel to bleed the line after a complete
loss of fluid due to a coupler gone loose. I resolve the coupler problem and
re-filled the reservoir. When I pulled the wheel, I found the Brake Drum to be
in pretty bad shape on the outside. Much of the rust flaked off easily and
the thin rim at the rear by the backer plate was segmented and some sections
were actually missing. I'm sure it looks much worse than it is but I think I
will replace them in the spring. Does anyone know the GM P/N or the vehicles
these were/are used on? Let me know.

Thanks,

Brian Gleissner

Got the coach moved forward today & all is well. I think they may have been just stiff. I had given them all a good rap or 2 & all rang instead of thudded. I didn't use the e-brake but used blocks. I don't have that much faith in it as it is. Some folks at the tinting shop next door were discussing whose truck could pull more & the owner suggested they find out pulling the GMC up a bit. It still isn't settled since the Ford went first & did the job & I wasn't gonna put it back in the hole to settle the bet. The Dodge guy's just gonna have to figure it out some other way... HAHA
BTW, are the knobs for the Power Level air valves available anywhere? The ones I have are worn out & I can't afford the Slaten valves right now. They don't push the valve plungers far enough.

Richard,

There's a guy parting out a GMC on eBay and I noticed he's selling the ride
height valves so it may have the Powerlevel system, why don't you contact
him and see what he wants for the dash panel.

Cinnibar (sp?) has new rear brake drums. Expensive, but available.
I had my rear brakes done by a small shop in Alabama, in exchange for doing his Income Taxes. He was embarrassed at the very high price of drums from Cinnibar, and he did not add any mark up. $180 as I recollect.Mean while, my friend John N, in Pensacola had 8 sitting around in his GMC parts collection.

Tom Phipps,

Tom,
Cinnabar is not the only place to purchase parts.
You have choices.
We ship all over the world to people that shop for good prices and information.

Bob,
Our customer base is not here on the net or International as I first thought.
This slang of supporting our vendors is really like what Jim B told me
few years back, "It is total BS"
You'll start seeing less support at conventions from now on and take
care of our customer base that we have acquired.
Cinnabar never support these clubs, I'm learning.

Jim,

I hope you're not underestimating the influence of 'Net and GMCMI members on
those who don't post or attend. Those people aren't getting their
information "out of the ether" -- even those from whom you never get orders
probably refer others who DO need your help.

Brian,
There are a number of GMC'rs that are, or have, converted over to rear discs. Try advertising on the GMC Swap Meet that you need some drums. Somebody's bound to have a set...maybe even Jimmy K has some used ones from conversions he has done for others.
Just what I think....

Bryon,
Give me a call at (800)7527502
When your running a major GMC repair shop there is but few things we
do not have in stock.
Our prices will be fair. If not say so so we can negotiate.

Rob,
I will still travel to all the conventions so they can view those fine

Tom,
Cinnabar is not the only place to purchase parts.
You have choices.
We ship all over the world to people that shop for good prices and information.

Jim K, (and others) In my own defense, I was not consulted about the rear brake drum, or where to get it. I was probably in Paupa New Guinea. Really out of the loop on this repair.
