I've noticed this in some GMC's, and not other's. And it's not the entire floor raised. Bob Dunahugh

Bob,

Avions have a ski storage door just rearward of the passenger side front wheel. It is a compartment that extends across the whole
GMC so that skis will fit which requires the floor be raised. It is about 4 inches high and 24 inches fore / aft.

Regards,
Rob M.

To allow occupants feet to touch the floor when they are seated at table.
Bill Bryant has a story about a GM managers wife complaining.

I have two 78 Royales here. There are 54 VIN's between them. The one with twin beds in the rear, and the kitchen behind the drivers seat. That floor is flat, front to back. The other Royale that has a full fold out bed at the back. And the kitchen just to the left as you go in the door. That one has the floor 3/4 inch higher from the engine step, and back about 5 ft. toward the rear. At the rear, that raised area runs from by the bath, to the rear. That one is also 3/4 inch higher. Can't be for storage. Bob Dunahugh
