I know I shouldn't have let it sit for over 9 months without running it. But that is water under the bridge. I procrastinated getting a new battery, the reason it hasn't been startted, but it now has a new one, fresh off the shelf.

I turn the key and get nothing. No solenoid click. On accessories, I get nothing. No dash fan, no door buzzer, nothing.

If I got accessories, and nothing else, I would suspect a connection between the battery and the starter, but no lights, fan, nothing?

And before anyone says "battery", I have tried two so far.

Ideas?

I would suggest using your voltmeter to see if it is the battery or a faulty connection. Just trace it out till you find the loss of voltage

Please disregard this thread. Some people can't be trusted to do the simplest tasks.

Suffice it to say, when there is only one battery in the compartment, make sure the battery is connected to the CHASSIS CABLES when you want to start the Olds 455, or the battery is connected to the HOUSE CABLES if you want to piddle with house stuff.

You are kidding us? Never admit this kind of thing here. Some of us have already been racking our brains trying to figure this out for you. Very Happy

I was going to be a wise a$$ and suggest that you actually install/connect the battery. But, I guess you figured that out on your own.

Translation - "I found an open circuit in the battery connection". True 'nuff - I'd say six feet of air qualifies as an "open circuit"...

We know one end is 'ok' where you connected battery to the cable,
The other end is the ground connections to complete the circuit.
Battery good -> cable to electronics/coach good -> ground from engine? to return cable good -> insert starter solenoid connections, return cable to battery good-> ; short across solenoid connections to see if it makes elec connections(semi-sparks)
should find area of concern (AOC)
