PO installed Honda seats pretty much as per instructions found on the web, keeping the original sloped bases with center pivot. However, they can only pivot a few degrees before the side hits the wall. Has anyone else run into this? It looks like I might gain some clearance if I mounted the seat further forward on the base, but beyond that I'm open to suggestions.

Hey David. My Birchaven was a late '76 Transmode upfitted by Coachmen, as was your Royale. I'm not sure when the pedestal changeover was, but I have flat-topped pedestals with offset pivots. I thought the sloping top pedestals were on the earlier coaches.
To give you an idea, looking down on it from above my passenger pedestal pivot is not in the center of the dial, but out towards where 7 or 8 would be on a clock face. I could measure for you tomorrow if you'd like, but taking a guess I'd say the pivot is back from center three or four inches and a similar amount towards the center of the coach. And with that amount of offset I could swivel the seats around with them hitting.
If your Honda seat is adjustable and you can slide it forward, or if the back can tilt forward, can you do either of those to allow the seat to pivot and than readjust the position for comfort?

Yeah, I tried all that, no joy. I wonder if I could move the center pivot off center? Probably just won't worry about it for now.
