I am an Alfa Romeo guy.

So I got a 1978 Alfa Romeo Sport sedan, restored it, and have set it up as our towd with a Unified Brake System from Jim K, Blue Ox tow bar and custom base plate which is all but invisible when not in use.

Drove it home yesterday

Neil,
The sedan is neat, but your Alfa Spyder Veloce would be cooler still.

Gene -

Neat it may be, but I am not going to flat tow a 1963 Giulia Spider.

Plus the brakes wouldn't work.

Its all good.

I seriously considered setting up my '85 Spider Veloce as a towd, but decided against it for a couple reasons. First, it's a ragtop, which would suffer in the spray coming off the back in a rainstorm. Second, it's got no room to pick up parts I might need for the GMC (well, bigger than a cylinder head). And third, I really prefer towds that start reliably... Wink

I actually DID get my Alfa to run very well, but only after replacing the entire fuel system and modifying the electrical system so all the current ran through relays rather than a very questionable and underdesigned ignition switch.

My 1963 is what is called an "Abnormale"

Afla Spiders were "Normale" with 2 bbl carbs, mild cams, moderate compression, or "Veloce" (fast) with 2 2bbl webers, hot cams, high compression.

An "Abnormale" is when you stick a late mode motor (in this case a 1750) with 2 webers and hot cams, into a 63 car.

see http://www.centerlinealfa.com/tech_veloce_normale

TMI for a GMC site, but its all cars...

Hello Neil,

Glad to see another Alfisti on the GMC forum.

Was beginning to believe we were the only ones!

I have towed the Spider behind the GMC on a tow dolly.
